I get a very annoying buzzing noise that is very similar to the GSM buzz (noise it makes when phone is next to a pair of speakers) that comes from my earpiece when I'm making phone calls on EDGE. The noise gets louder as the reception gets worse. If I have full reception, the noise is only slightly audible. If I have 1 bar, the buzzing noise is louder than the conversation going on making it nearly impossible to hear what the other side is saying. Most of the time I'm in a area where there isn't 3G and I don't have full reception, so the noise is very annoying.
I have taken it to 3 different Apple stores. The first time, the genius bar rep just restored my phone and told me to come back if it still persists. The second time at a different store, the rep did the same exact thing. The third time, the rep said my warranty was just out so he wanted me to pay $199 for repairs.
Is there any way I can fix the iPhone myself? I really don't want to pay $200 to fix this issue.
