Switching over from IPOD touch to ...

Hello All,

Recently i just got an Iphone 3G 8GB. I also have an ipod touch 8gb, that i use to use before i got the iphone. My question is, how do i transfer everything from my ipod touch smoothly to my iphone? I want my itunes info and all my apps, music to be in my iphone now.

This is so i can clear my itouch, restore and sell it.

Does anyone know how i can do this? Does Itunes do it all for? Can i use my macbook air to transfer everything? I plan on doing a restore and upgrade on the iphone soon (i havent started using it) so if i use it with my current itunes will it wipe everything? Or do i need to use like another "computer" or "laptop" to do the restorations and upgrades?

I just dont want to plug in the iphone to my mac and have it delete anything i had, or have it update with the current persons information (i bought it off a friend).
