Why dont apple unlock 2nd hand Iphones ...

I find it completely shocking that neither O2 or Apple will unlock 2nd hand iphones. Why the **** should I have to go with O2 if I want an Iphone when Im an existing customer of another carrier. Fair enough my carrier is getting the Iphone next year but who wants to wait for such a nice phone? I surely don't as well as countless others. Now forgive me for saying this, but Im willing to pay for the service and then take out a warranty too but as we all know, jailbroken phones cant be covered by a warranty as this is considered tampering with the phone and invalidates any warranty. Now am I the only one that can spot such a gap in the market? Im fed up to the back teeth of problems that arise from 'illegal' unlocking and the problems that can occur with such activities. Either O2 or Apple should get their finger out of their proverbial backside and come up with a solution. Its my chuffing phone and I want to use whatever carrier I choose.

Come on Apple sort it out, the phone is mine and I want to use it with who I choose, I couldn't give a **** about visual voicemail so don't tell me I wont have all the features of the phone. Do the maths, you have already generated the revenue from the sale of the unit, there are millions of Iphones that aren't tied to a carrier and that alone has the potential to generate you millions again even if you charge a couple of pounds to do the unlock (More like 30 or so probably)

What do you have to say? What are everybodies views on this?
