Apple Store broke my phone... ...

and offered me 25% off a replacement phone because my iPhone is out-of-warranty. (by 2-months, btw)

Took it in to see if they could tell me what was wrong. It was acting like the sleep/wake button was stuck or constantly being pushed. The phone worked fine when it was plugged in.

Not only could they not tell me what was wrong, but they;

1) BROKE OFF my vibration/mute button
2) Added lint under my screen
3) Completely rendered my iPhone unusable since it no longer functions even when plugged in.

Yes, my iPhone is out-of-warranty. No, it's not right that my phone is in worse shape than it was than when i brought it in. And while $50 off a replacement phone might sound like a decent gesture, i'd be able to get a replacement 16G 3GS model for $199 in December.

Has anyone dealt had this kind of experience with the Apple Store? Any suggestions on how to handle this?
